With over three decades of experience across five continents, Michael Casey is a journalist, author, researcher, and advisor focused on the social, economic, and political impact of digital technology and globalization. His career began with 18 years at Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal. He later served as a founding staffer at the MIT Media Lab's Digital Currency Initiative (2015) and as Chief Content Officer at CoinDesk, Inc., where his newsroom won three major journalism awards for its coverage of the FTX collapse. Casey chaired CoinDesk's Consensus event and hosted the weekly column and podcast Money Reimagined.
Currently, he is Chairman of the Decentralized AI Society (DAIS), an organization dedicated to building artificial intelligence on a decentralized framework to challenge the control of centralized platforms over data and capital. He is also co-author of the March 2024 manifesto Our Biggest Fight: Reclaiming Liberty, Humanity, and Dignity in the Digital Age, written with Frank McCourt. Casey has authored six books on digital culture and economics and advises startups including Hypercycle.AI and Propy. He is available for speaking engagements regarding blockchain technology and digital disruption
